Ethics is a system for thinking about and evaluating right vs. wrong. A functioning ethical system tells us what we ought not to do (proscriptive) and what we ought to do (prescriptive) and why we ought do so.

Christian Ethics

As Christians, we are called to live ethically upright lives before God, one another, and a world of witnesses. Our ethics are theocentric, meaning we regard God as the center, His purposes the highest good, His ways the ultimate guideposts, his judgements authoritative.

Heart Ethics

Scripture tells us that God looks upon our hearts and our motives as much as our outward actions; as such, it is not sufficient to talk about how we must behave when the delimited between "good" and "bad" is not what we do but rather who we are. Simply put, God's intention is to conform us to Christ in the desires of our hearts, the meditations of our minds, and the uses of our bodies. This requires a complete, end-to-end transformation of our entire nature, corrupted as it is by sin; as such, we are wholly dependent upon God's power at work within us through the Holy Spirit to even begin to shape a truly Christian ethic within us.

Having first established that, there are at least three things which every Christian is responsible to honor in our hearts and in our actions: Scripture, Conscience, and Love.
