A gloss used to confuse two distinct categories of advice.

Wisdom is found in the confluence of knowledge, prudence, discernment, and maturity. Wise counsel is offered thoughtfully and reflectively after careful deliberation and consideration of the person, context, and problem being addressed.

Convention is canned advice offered without consideration of the nuances of who, where, and why it is to be applied.

There are times when convention offers very useful and important insights; however, discerning if and when this is the case can only be done through the lens of wisdom.
