Synopsis

Karl Barth's meditation/curriculum on the Apostles' Creed. Shamelessly theocentric, obsessed with God's plenary revelation of Himself, and unapologetically Christian.

Doc's Take

Brilliant. Poetic.

Rockhopper's View

This is a must read for anyone interested in studying theology at any level. Framed around the Apostle's Creed, Barth's extemporaneous lectures made him one of the greatest theologians of the 20th century. Beautifully formed and powerfully delivered, "Dogmatics in Outline" is a concise presentation of Barth's understanding of the nature and being of God and our relationship with the Divine.

Barth's overall concept is that if our understanding of God is wrong, we get everything else wrong - from politics and socio-economics to art and expression to our very lives. "Dogmatics in Outline" is more than just an academic study of God - it is a cry to experience and participate in the original purpose of the Creator, a call to redeem the times and return to our God, and a challenge to live within a framework of spirituality based upon a relationship with Jesus Christ.
