God
From Neoredemptive
Holy.
Unknowable, except by His own willing self-revelation.
The unmoved first mover.
The uncreated creator.
Eternally three persons -- Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit.
The beginning and the end of life, existence, church, humanity, theology, and everything else.
Which God?
There are a number of monotheist traditions which use the English word "god" to refer to their deity. The question that naturally arises is, "are they speaking of the same God?" The answer is usually an emphatic "no". If someone were to say "Adam Bradley? I knew him in high school. Short guy with a shaved head. All the jocks loved him. Was he from Korea or Vietnam?" it would be clear that they were not talking about User:Doc. Either the speaker is thinking of someone else who who shares the name "Adam Bradley", or he had a fundamentally distorted perception of Adam's physical and cultural. Likewise, that two people both talk about "god" means neither that they are both speaking of the same deity nor that they are speaking of the God who is the subject and object of Christianity. When a Muslim speaks of Allah who admits no partner and a Christian speaks of the God and Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ the only-begotten, either we are speaking of different Gods, either because we worship different beings or because at least one of us is profoundly mistaken as to the character of the One of whom we speak.
