Synopsis

A defense of the historic Christian claims of uniqueness and exclusivity: that we worship the one (only) triune God, the one (only) Savior Jesus Christ, who is the one (whole) Truth, calls us to be part of His one (united) people, and offers us the one (only) way of life, spirituality, and salvation. Each claim is written by a different author as a brief study of a passage of Scripture:

  • One Among Many (Acts 17:16-31) -- David Wells
  • One God (Genesis 1:1) -- Peter R. Jones
  • One Savior (Romans 3:23-25) -- Richard D. Phillips
  • One Truth (John 18:37-38) -- Philip G. Ryken
  • One People (1 Peter 2:9-10) -- J. Ligon Duncan III
  • One Way (Matthew 7:13-27) -- D. A. Carson

Doc's Take

At a few points unsporting (e.g., taking digs at Armenianism instead of simply stating the case for God's sovereignty), but as a whole an invigorating and edifying read. Do not look here for an in-depth deconstruction, refutation, or analysis of the opposition; the authors (largely) simply state "this I believe", and do so with eloquence, beauty, and fidelity to the orthodox Christian tradition.
