Patriarchy

From Neoredemptive

A system of social organization structured around fathers and fatherhood.

The word is often used pejoratively by feminists, egalitarians, misandrists, and heterophobes. In spite of this, we find that scripture looks favorably upon patriarchy when it is practiced in a Godly way -- with responsibility, strength, restraint, and humility; furthermore, we find that that it speaks unsympathetically to men who would prefer to abdicate the responsibilities God has given them as fathers, brothers, sons and leaders.

The basis for patriarchy's moral legitimacy rests in the fatherhood of God -- that He is our ultimate father and patriarch, and our relationships with one another should follow the example of His relationship with us.
