Remnant
From Neoredemptive
Unfortunately, most of the time when the theme of "the remnant" comes up in Church contexts, the working assumption is that "we" are the remnant and "they" are Babylon, and that we should feel really good about that.
A few quick correctives. First, never ever ever refer to yourself or allow yourself to be referred to as "the remnant" in a way that conveys any sort of pride in the fact. If you are indeed in the remnant, it is because a great nation has been judged and destroyed, and the Godly response is to mourn and weep in sackcloth and ashes.
Second, do not take your status as the remnant as conveying any sort of privilege or preferential status in the eyes of men or of God. The duty of the remnant is to worship God rightly and to serve their captors.
More to come.
