Spirituality from below

Also known as "eros spirituality" (in the works of David Wells), non-Christian spiritualities tend to orient around the condition, will, action, and initiative of the creature trying to reach upward to God. Christian spirituality, by contrast, is "spirituality from above" (or "agape spirituality") in that it is the gracious action of the Creator which connects Him to His creatures.
