The Twelve

If used in reference to the time of the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ, "the twelve" refers to his twelve disciples. In reference to the time after his crucifixion, it refers to the eleven remaining disciples (sans Judas Iscariot) plus Matthias, who become the first twelve apostles.
